Starting out blogging can be exciting but also difficult. You’ll no doubt have so many questions. What do I write about? How do I get traffic to my blog? How do I get Google to pick it up?
So, I’m going to give you some options to get you started.
Have a content calendar
Like everything, when you start a new project, in order for it to be effective, you need to be consistent. Having a content calendar helps with that.
Plan out your blog posts, whether you write them in bulk and schedule ahead, or simply pop them in a calendar so you know what you’re going to write about and when. Just be consistent in your publishing, as eventually your audience will be looking for your blogs, relying on your content to help them.
Not only that, Google loves fresh content so it’s good for SEO too.
Link it to Pinterest
Pinterest is AMAZING for driving traffic to blogs! Again, be consistent. It took me ages to get my head into it, and I’m still learning. Check out Tailwind, and their blog. They have some amazing resources to get you started.
Optimise for SEO
Make sure that your blog is optimised for search engines. Use keywords throughout, use a good title and make sure you’ve added an SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO to help you along.
Long gone are the days where you could ram a boat load of keywords into your blog post in the hope that Google will pick it up. Driving solid and conistent traffic to your blog requires effort and consistency, and part of that is also growing an audience to tell.
Be sure to utilise your social media channels, share your posts with your audience and encourage them to share it with theirs by adding social media share buttons to the posts.
